A NEW DESTROYER
H.M.S. Glowworm, one of the two destroyers which John 1. Thornycroft and Co., Ltd., are building at their Woolston Yard. Southampton, was launched recently by Lady Barrie, wife of Sir Charles Barrie, M.P., who was present to witness the ceremony. The Glowworm is the first to be launched of the eight Greyhound class destroyers now being built in various ynds in the United Kingdom. She carries four 4.Tin guns and two sets of torpedo tubes, and her machinery is of the usual twin-screw reduction turbine type, with three water-tube oil-fired boilers .After the vessel had successfully taken the water Lady Barrie was presented with n silver tankard by Sir John E. Thornycroft, managing director of Thornycroft’s.
