THE STRANDED MAHENO ANOTHER SALVAGE ATTEMPT (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) BRISBANE, October 25. Another attempt is to be made to refloat the Maheno, which was beached off the Queensland coast some time ago while being towed to Japan. A Japanese marine expert who inspected the vessel declares that there is definite hope of towing her off, and the steamer Oonah will shortly arrive on the scene with 100 men and complete salvage gear. If the efforts fail the Maheno will be broken up on the spot and loaded into the Oonah. A SCHOONER WRECKED SYDNEY, October 25. The schooner Pearl was caught in a heavy swell at the entrance of the Clarence River, was washed on to the biach, and soon became a total wreck. The crew of four swam ashore.
