THE CITY RESERVES
TO THE EDITOR. SIR,—I would like to express my'gratitude to Mr Howes for coming forward and giving out of his wonderful knowledge, collected through years of observation, big opinion regarding our native bush. During the past week I have, unlike Councillor Batchelor, endeavoured to investigate for myself what authority Mr Howes ha s for expressing an opinion on the subject of our native bush. Consequently I have discovered that numbers of thoughtful, educated people, some of whom are themselves students of Nature, actually assert that, because of his extensive threefold study and observation of insect, bird, and plant life, Mr Howes is the most competent man in our city to express an opinion on the subject of our native bush.—l am. etc., Interested Citizen.
