SOUTH OTAGO
BALCLUTHA Owaka Show At the adjourned annual meeting of the Owaka A. and P. Society some discussion took place whether or not a show should be held this year. Mr H. A Brough said ho had gathered from conversations with farmers of the district that the majority favoured holding a show, but thought that the date should bo made later in the year.—Mr Thomas Magirmess said that in the past two years the society bad been able to keep the show going only through the proceeds received from the rodeo. Personally, he would like to see the show held as usual, but be could not see where the entries were coming from, owing to the poor condition of stock. More support was required from the farmers generally, and unless this was forthcoming he did not think it would be advisable to bold a show this year. After several other members had given their views on the subject, a vote was taken, and it was decided to hold the show, December 12 being selected as the date. Personal Mr W. Roy. secretary of the South Otago Hospital Board, is still an inmate of Balclntha Hospital, as,a result of the accident by which he losft portion of the forefinger of the left hand some weeks ago. Ho is, however, making satisfactory progress, and hopes soon to be able to resume bG rIA duties.
