SWIMMING CARNIVAL

The fact that H.M.S. Dunedin does not now leave until Tuesday makes it possible for a number of the sailors to compete at the Otago Centre's Labour Night carnival at the Municipal Baths on Monday, and besides fielding two relay teams and competing in several other events, a large number of the sailor e will take part in the special punt fight novelty which lias been arranged by members of the St. Clair Life Saving Club. Walter Jarvis, New Zealand 100 yards and 220 yards champion, will be seen in action over 100 yards, and many other well-known per formers will be taking part, including Miss P. Sporle, the Manawatu champion. S. W. Jarvis,-the New Zealand intermediate triple champion, will be a competitor and in the relay no fewer than 17 teams have entered for the interelub events, entries for all other events being large, there being more than 40 in the second class dash over 33 1-3 yards, and nearly 20 in for the 100 Yards Interelub Handicap. Sailors in uniform will be admitted free.
