(Si'eujal to Daily Times) WELLINGTON". October 23. Half an inch of rain fell at Trentham last night, and up to 9 o'clock this morning. The tracks will be in good order for the racing, and will provide eapy going if the weather clears'. lhere has been intermittent very light ram throughout to-day, and this evening the weather has changed to the south, with the prospect of further rain. It was an off morning on the tracks. Several southern horses arrived to-day. H. Cutts came with Fracas, Slasher Wild Chase, and Paper Slipper; T. H. GiUett with Greek Shepherd and Pelmet; P. V. Mason with Variant and Hostis; A. E. Didham with Volarth and High Glee; and R. Beale came up in charge of D. I. Wilson's pair, Black Duke and Guarantee. Wilson will arrive later. T. R. George has arrived back from Sydney by the Wanganella with the remainder of his team—Wotan, Debham, and Debut. Mr A. 11. Walton, owner of Silver Ring, returned home with his gelding, trainer R W. King hav:ng decided to settle permanently in Sydney. Mr Walton stated that Silver Ring would not be a runner in the New Zealand Cup, but would probably race on the later days at the C.J.U meeting. He had improved in recent weeks, and had run well, but found the weights he had to carry too solid. King has three horses in his team at Sydney and will shortly be receiving a Rampion colt from New Zealand. Scratchmere Scar's breakdown was unfortunate, as he had developed into a good horse. He has been blistered, but according to Mr Walton his case is not too hopeful at present. The total acceptors in the Rimutaka Hack Handicap to be run at Trentham on Saturday exceed the safety number, and although it is hoped to be able to run it in one race, provision has been made for a division. In the event of the race having to be run in divisions, the prize money of £2OO will be increased to £3OO and the winner of each division, and the second and third, will receive £l2O, £2O and £lO respectively. The divisions are as follows:—First division: Beau Gallante 9.0, Gasman 8.12, Acceptable S.B, Gray Honour 8.7, High Glee 8.5, Master Reynard 7.13, Chikara 7.8, Top Coat 7.8, Windsoreen 7.7, Dampler 7.2, Golden 1 Enterprise 7.2. Boomerang 7.0,. Dark Red 7.0, Gold Vein 7.0, Myriam 70, Vinco 7-0. Second division: Lifeguard 9.0, Hostis 8.10, Dollar Bill B.S, Round Score 8.7, State Bank 8.2, Finnesko 7.10, Light Comedy 7.8, Shu 7.7, Consummation 7.2. Entheos 7.2, Miracle 7.2, Conversion 7.0,. Gate Crasher 7.0, Merltor 7.0, Prevail 7.0. The following horses will be bracketed irrespective of a single race or divisions: —Shu and Windsoreen, Consummation and Dampier, Entheos and Golden Enterprise, Miracle and Boomerang, Conversion and Dark Red, Gate Crasher and Gold Vein, Heritor and Myriam, Prevail and Vinco. Other brackets on the card for Saturday are as follows: —Taita HandicapCricket and Deficit. Kind Heart and Western Maid; Wellcsley StakesCricket and Deficit, Paper Slipper and Wild Chase, Imposture and Moquette.
