ROYAL SHOW

LARGELY INCREASED ENTRIES THE CHAMPIONSHIP AWARDS (Per United Press Association) HASTINGS, October 23. An overcast sky and slight drizzling rain rather dulled the edge of enjoyment at the opening of Hawke'e Bay's second Royal Show this morning, and hopes that conditions would improve in the early afternoon were unfortunately not realised. The show was declared officially open by the Governor-General, Viscount Galway. This year's show is not only the largest the district has ever known, but very appreciably larger than the previous Royal Show at Tomoana. In fact, the entries are some 700 more than they were for the Royal Show at Invercargill last year, and about 1000 more than for any previous show in this district. The exhibits cover a wide range of interests. From a purely agricultural and pastoral point of view, according to visiting judges, quality is uncommonly high in almost every class, and without exception is commendable.
