LEG-BEFORE RULE
M.C.C.'S REQUEST TO AUSTRALIA SYDNEY, October 21. The M.C.C. has asked the Australian Board of Cricket Control to agree to employ the experimental leg-before rule in matches in which the M.C.C. visiting team is engaged in Australia prior to its tour of New Ze.iland. Board members are now taking h postal ballot on the matter. UNIVERSAL ADOPTION LIKELY LONDON, October 21. (Received Oct. 22, at 5.5 p.m.) The Daily Mail states: " Marylebone's cabte message to Australia regarding the lej,-before rule foreshadows universal adoption of the rule, despite the opposition of the English professionals. Obviously Marylebone is completely satisfied that Holmes will welcome the move. Brodman was years ago pressing for an amendment of the leg-before rule and is certain to support Marylebone':; re : quest strongly. The jo'.th Africans have already urged that the rule should be permanent. The New Zealanders may also be invited to try the rule, but it only needs Australia's affirmative to bring all the countries into line. Thi> experiment will certainly be continued in England in 1936."
