In celebration of Burroughes _ and Watts's centenary, a game of billiards was played on a century-old table with an oaken bed, on which the balls rumbled peculiarly, recoiling little from the cushions made of list. W. J. Peall, an ex-champion, now an octogenarian, who scored 1000 in 44 minutes in 1884, before the spot stroke was barred, played an exhibition game in which the spot etroke was permitted, and beat Sydney Fry, aged 66, an ex-amateur champion, by 225 to IS7.
