OAMARU CLUB'S JUBILEE MEETING
Such excellent support has been forthcoming from owners and trainers for the Oamaru Trotting Club's jubilee meeting on Labour Day, (bat there are record acceptances, including no less than nine NewZealand Cup candidates in the Weston Handicap, and 1." acceptors for the big race, the Oamavu Jubilee Handicap, over a distance of two miles. The Australian champions, Evieas and Emilius Way, have both accepted in these two events respectively, and will make their first appearance in New Zealand at Oamaru, which will be an added attraction for trotting enthusiasts at this meeting. All the other events have big fields, the smallest being nine acceptors for the saddle event. The fine six-furlong track at the Oamaru Racecourse is in first class condition, and has been greatly improved by the recent showers during the week, so that everything points to a record meeting to mark the twenty-fifth anniversary of the club since it became a totalisator club. The Forburv system ot totalisator has been adopted by the club, and special passenger trains from Dunedin and Christchurch arrive at the racecourse in ample time for the first event, which starts at 12.30 p.m., and return to the cities the same evening. The usual local transport arrangements will meet the convenience of patrons, and with such an interesting programme of events it is anticipated that a very large crowd of racegoers will make this their racing holiday in Oamaru.
