COMMUNITY SINGING

This Friday's sing will be the last appearance of Mr H. P. Desmoulins at the mid-day sings. This should be one of the brightest sings as the sailors from the H.M.S. Duncdin are going to attend and assist with rousing choruses, and, in addition, Leading teaman Lonsdale will assist with vocal numbers and Bandmaster F. Baker with violin solos. On November 1 the last sing in the Strand Theatre will be held, and the whole of the proceeds are for the Mayoress's Christmas Cheer Fund for the children. Big Brother Bill will be the leader. The final sing of the season will take place on November 12 in the Town Hall, and the leaders will be Messrs H. P. Desmoulins and J. F. Himburg. The committee has received some good donations from the staffs of firms, and these have been very much appreciated. If the efforts of the committee, leader, and pianist have been appreciated by listen-ers-in during the long season they may send in donations to Begg's or the Strand Theatre. The sing will be held in the Strand Theatre (by courtesy of Messrs Fuller-Hay ward) at the usual hour. Donations of flowers are always acceptable at the stall, which is in charge of Mrs M'lntyre. Proceeds are for the Mayor's Relief Fund.
