COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP YORKSHIRE WINS AGAIN LONDON, August 23. Yorkshire has again won the championship. Rain curtailed most of the matches. Following were the results:— KENT v. DERBY. Kent; First innings, 560 (Ashdown not out 305). Derby: First innings, 380. Derby followed on and lost two wickets for 121. Kent won on the first innings. WORCESTER v. YORKSHIRE. Worcester: First innings, 154 (Bowes four for 40) ; second, 144 (Verity five for 48). Yorkshire: First innings, 358 (Sutcliffe 138). Yorkshire won by an innings and 60 runs. GLOUCESTER v. GLAMORGAN. Gloucester: First innings, nine for 440 declared (Barnett 128, Sinficld not out 209). Glamorgan: First innings, 238 (Dyson 96; Sinfield four for 47). Glamorgan followed on and made 139 (Sinfield five for 56, Goddard five for 61). Gloucester won by an innings and 63 runs. WARWICK v. NOTTS. Warwick: First innings, 113 (Woodhead six for 28; Voce four for 24); second, three for 290 (Kilncr 124. Wyatt not out 88). Notts: First innings, 324 (Staples not out 107). Notts won on the first innings. SUSSEX v. SURREY. Sussex: First innings, 489 (John Langridge 111, Melville 110, James Langridge 65, Harry Parks not out 100). . . Surrey: First inuiiigs, nine for 315 (Garland-Wells 83). The match, was drawn. LANCASHIRE v. NORTHANTS. Lancashire: First innings, five tor 521, declared (Payuter not out 208). Northants: First innings, 178 (Hopwood seven for 66). Northants followed on and lost none for 110. Lancashire won on the first innings. HAMPSHIRE v. ESSEX. Hampshire: First innings, 223 (Nichols five for 43) ; second, five for 299 (Arnold 131). _ Essex: First innings, 247 (Kennedy six for 94). . . Essex won on the first innings. Ashdown’s 305 is the season s highest score. Ashdown’s 332 was also the highest in 1934. It was the only triple century in either season. The match between South Africa and Sir Julien Cahn’s eleven was abandoned owing to min. THE KING’S CONGRATULATIONS LONDON, August 23. The King sent a message to the South Africans congratulating them on their great victory in winning the rubber after such close and well-fought matches. ' SIEDLE SPRAINS AN ANKLE LONDON, August 24. (Received August 25, at 10 p.m.) Siedle sprained an ankle when he tripped over a cricket bag in the dressing room. There was no play against Sussex because of rain.
