Monday, August 19. (Before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M.) . UNLICENSED WIRELESS. Charged with being in possession of an unlicensed wireless set, Claude Andrews was convicted without penalty. MAINTENANCE. Robert Bankshaw was proceeded against by his wife, who entered a claim for a maintenance order.—Mr 0. G. Stevens, who represented the complainant, stated that relations between the defendant and bis wife had been anything but happy during, the past few years, and matters had' reached the stage when the complainant considered that she could not live with him any longer.—After hearing evidence by the parties, the magistrate granted the order and fixed maintenance at the rate of 10s per week. Charles Wolfe was charged with disobedience of a maintenance order, • the arrears on which amounted to £32 6s 2d. The defendant applied for variation of the order. —After the defendant had tendered evidence as to his circumstances the information for disobedience was dismissed, and arrears were suspended pending a further order by the court. CHARGES OF THEFT. Horace Victor Wilton, who was represented by Mr C. J. L. White, was charged with having, on July 6, broken and entered the premises of Leslie David Calder Groves and stolen jewellery valued at £3O, further charges of having stolen a rifle valued at £l, the property of George Gibson Black, and a quantitv of tools, the property of some person unknown, also being preferred.—On the application of Chief Detective Young a remand until August 23 was gratned, bail being allowed in the accused’s own recognisance of £SO.
