; PERSONAL r. The Rev/ T. Flower, who will leave the Port Chalmers , Congregational Church for the 'Raglan pastorate, was accorded a sehdtoff dn Tuesday evening by. his congregation. Representatives of other bodies also attended to bear tribute to the, departing guests, the Mayor (Mr T. Scollay) acknowledging Mr and Mrs Flower's value as citizens, and the headmaster of the Public School (Mr D. Forsyth) referring to Mr Flower's .service- as a Bible school teacher. The Rev. J. G. Dunn conveyed the good wishes of the Ministers' Association; and Mr K. G. Roy, who presided at the gathering, made a presentation of a tangible token of. esteem to Mr. and Mrs Flower. SALVATION ARMY At Pdrt Chalmers on Tuesday evening ' Major J. P. Middlemiss, the. new divisional officer of the Salvation Army, was accorded .a civic welcome. Greetings were also tendered by representatives of several other organisations, including the Port' Chalmers " Ministers' A/ssociation, whose representative, the Rev. T. A. Pybus, also conveyed the good wishes of the Methodist congregation. The Mayor (Mr T. Scollay) said that in the ranks of the Port Chalmers Salvation Army Corps were citizens of sterling qualities, and Major Middlemiss had cause to feel proud of his new charge. The kindly welcome extended to the new officer by Major J. P. Halle and. Mrs Balle was endorsed by the local members and representatives from other Army posts. In reply, Major Middlemiss said he and Mrs Middlemiss were greatly impressed with the hearty welcome accorded them.
