Five persons lost their lives in a ghastly tragedy on an isolated dairy farm in the hills at Stoneleigh. A house was burnt down and the charred bodies of the victims were found heaped together among the ruins. The victims were V. Hawkcs, aged 36, owner of the property; his wife.
