Ministerial. The Acting Prime Minister (Sir Alfred Ransom) announced at Dannevirke on Saturday that he had received advice from the Prime Minister (Mr G. W. Forbes) at Bombay that he will join the Wanganell'a at Sydney, arriving at Auckland on August 14. Sir Alfred also received a message from Mr Coates in London, advising that he was to leave for New York on Saturday to join the Maunganui at San Francisco on July 31, arriving at Wellington 'on August 19. The Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr R. Masters) arrived in Dunedin by car from Christehurch yesterday, afjd is staying at the Grand Hotel. Tod\y he will be engaged with departmental matters, and will leave for Invercargill to-morrow morning. He is accompanied by his private secretary (Mr K. M. Sleight). .

Mr C. R. Smith returned on Saturday afternoon from Wellington. Mr J. L. Passmore returned to Dunedin on Saturday afternoon from a visit to Wellington. Mr E. ,T. Moller returned to Dunedin on Saturday afternoon Xrom a visit to Auckland. Captain Coll M'Donald left by the express on Saturday morning on a visit to Wellington. Mr James Begg, who has been on a visit to Wellington, returned to Dunedin by the express on Saturday afternoon. Mr F. Waite, M.L.C., was a through passenger by Saturday's express from the north for Balclutha. Mr W. R. Piddington returned from Invercargill by the express on Saturday morning. Mr G. W. Thomson, who intends to make a lengthy visit to the Islands, left by the express on Saturday morning. Mr W. A. Flavell, who has been on a business visit to Chrietchurch, returned to Dunedin on Saturday afternoon. Mr Claude Kingston, representative of Messrs J. and N. Tait, travelled to Christchurch by the express on Saturday. Colonel Orsborn, chief secretary of the Salvation Army, left by the express on Saturday morning on hia return to Wellington. Mr D. M'Dougall, M.P. for Matanra, arrived in Dunedin on Saturday afternoon by the express from the north, and proceeded to Gore. Dr H. M. Phillips and Mrs Phillips arrived in Dunedin by aeroplane from Wellington last evening, and are staying at Wain's Hotel. Mr H. F. Norman, passenger manager for the Union Steam Ship Company at Wellington, arrived in Dunedin op Saturday afternoon on a business visit. Mr R. A. Malone, late of the Land and Income Tax Department, Dunedin, was a passenger by Saturday's express for the north, en route to Auckland. Mr Malone has been appointed bureau inspector to the Unemployment Board in the Auckland district.

Mr R. Kinnaird, Otago representative on the New Zealand Fruitgrowers' Federation, proceeded north by the second express on Saturday to attend a conference of growers in Christchurch and a meeting of directors in Wellington. Sir James Grose, general manager National Bank of New Zealand, arrived in Dunedin by the first express from the north on Saturday. This evening he will be present at the annual meeting of the Chamber of Commerce, when he will deliver an address. He will leave on his return to Wellington by to-morrow's express.

Mr F. J. Page, to whom the Senate of the University of New Zealand recently awarded a scholarship in music to enable him to study in England, and the Misses M. and A. Bucklin were passengers by the express on Saturday morning en route to Christchurch and Wellington.

At the annual meeting of the Otago Bowling Club, Ltd., on Saturday night, the president (Mr J. Henderson) referred tc the approaching departure for Wellington of Mr N. Facer, a member of the club. He expressed the good wishes of the club and presented Mr Facer with a case of pipes. Mr Facer suitably returned thanks.

Friends of Miss Nessie Moncrieff,, New Zealand World Fellowship Secretary of China, will be interested to learn that on her return to China her work will be under the direction of Miss Lily Haas, associate general secretary of the Chinese Y.W.C.A. Miss Haas has recently been appointed to that position and brings to it an intimate understanding of the movement from her 20 years in China. She has served the association in many capacities, latterly as. training secretary, with a sureness of direction and skill in procedure which is bearing fruit in the gi adual raising of the standard of leadership.

The staff of the Fletcher Construction Company, Ltd., which is at present engaged in remodelling His Majesty's Theatre, gathered at the conclusion of the day's work on Thursday to say farewell to Mr F. Vorrath prior to his departure with' the AH Black Rugby football team for England. Mr Bert Hall, foreman it) charge, presided and, after congratulating Mr Vorrath on his selection, expressed the best wishes of the staff for his success during the tour. He then presented him with a solid leather engraved, suitcase. Mr G. Hesselyn, Mr J. Hodgkinson, Mr S Ikin. and Mr J. Granger also congratulated Mr Vorrath, who suitably replied, acknowledging the presentation and the complimentary remarks.
