DUNEDIN SCOTTISH SOCIETY
MONTHLY MEETING The monthly social and dance of the Scottish Society was held on Saturday, a large number of members and friends being present. The vice-president, Mr James Caldwell, wag piped to the platform by the official piper, Mr N. MacPherson. A hearty welcome was extended to all members and visitors. Items were given by the following Mrs Hastie, Master Ivan Douglas, Miss Jean M'Gregor, the' Misses Taylor (two lady pipers), dance items by Master Jim Flett, Miss A. Ramsay, Miss L. Ross, Miss M. MacPherson, Miss N. Matheson, and Miss B. Brown.
During the evening a presentation was made to Mrs Duff for the excellent service rendered to the society as convener of the Ladies' Social Committee. On behalf of the Ladies' Committee, Mrs John Stewart (convener) presented Mrs Duff with a beautiful crystal vase, and, on behalf of the society, the chairnmn (Mr W. P. Smith) presented an oak clock to her, with the best wishes of all friends. Mr Peter Duff suitably replied on behalf of Mrs Duff. For the dance, Mr J. Collie and Mr J. Ramsav carried out the duties of M.C., and'Mr N. M'Pherson and Mr W. Matheaon were the official pipers. The Monte Carlo waltz prizes Were won by Mr H. Smith and Mies Matheson.
Miss Matheson and Mr M'Glashan supplied the dance music.
