(Friday, July 19.) (Before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M.) CHIMNEYS ON FIRE. For allowing a chimney to catch fire Archibald Frank Anderson was fined 5s and costs (10s). Similarly charged, William Charles Barnes was fined 10s and costs (10s), and Clement Alfred Hill os and costs (10s). UNLIGHTED BICYCLES. Courtney Wilfred Higgs pleaded guilty to riding an unlighted bicycle, and was convicted without penalty. On a similar charge Harold Stuart Robinson was fined 5s and costs (10s). FAILURE TO PAY LEVY.

Ron Johnston was fined 5s and costs (10s) for plying for hire for the carriage of goods without a license. It was stated that the defendant had renewed his license that morning.

For failing to give Way to traffic approaching on the right, Edward Capps Mitchell was fined 20s and costs (10s). —On a similar charge, Charles Frederick Roberts was fined £2 10s and costs (10s).

George Rosa pleaded guilty to driving an unlighted motor truck and to failing to stop at the signal of a constable. It was stated that the defendant, after passing the constable who had signalled to him, had pulled up and allowed the constable to interview him. Thomas Leslie Raines pleaded not guilty to a charge of leaving a motor car not under proper control. John Brewer pleaded guilty to negligently driving a motor car.—Senior Sergeant Packer said that a collision had taken place, and the defendant had refused to give his name and address. — The defendant, who was represented by Mr B. S. Irwin, was fined £2 10s and costs (£3 0s). UNLAWFULLY ON LICENSED PREMISES.

Charges of being found unlawfully on licensed premises were preferred against Percy Dunn, Gordon Grant, James M’Kinnon, Alfred Pitfield and William Williams. —The accused were each fined 10s and costs (10s). CHARGE DISMISSED.

Henry G. Ncwey, for whom Mr W. D. Taylor appeared, pleaded not guilty to a charge of negligent driving.—After evidence had been heard the magistrate dismissed the charge.
