SHORT DURATION

SESSION OF PARLIAMENT NO IMPORTANT LEGISLATION (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 10. An indication that the coming session of Parliament, to open on August 29, is likely to be “ short and sweet ” was given by the Acting Minister of Finance, Mr Adam Hamilton, on his arrival today on a brief visit. He said that all the main problems had been disposed of last session, and he did not know of any important policy matters that would be brought down next session. The session would be a normal one, continuing through September, October, and possibly into the early part of November. Asked concerning a possible further restoration of the Civil Service salary cuts, Mr Hamilton said he was unable to express any opinion. Such matters depended oh the financial position, and there were people who said that general taxation should first be reduced. The whole position would have to be sized up later. Questioned concerning the possibility of an alteration to the electoral laws, Mr Hamilton said he had not discussed the subject, and it had not been formally discussed by Cabinet. “I don’t think any news could be better, unless it were news of a general rise in the prices for primary produce,” said the Minister in referring to the meat agreement
