A PROMPT ARREST
BURGLARY SUSPECTS APPREHENDED
(Per United Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, June 27,
The capture of two suspects of the Waitotara burglary a few hours after their arrival in New Plymouth, and the recovery of the converted car in which they allegedly journeyed here, were made by the police yesterday, following a search.
This morning William Kenneth Mailman, labourer, of Auckland, aged 21, and Earl Dodds, alias Earl Frederick Edward O'Neill, labourer, Palmerston North, aged 19, were charged with converting a car on Tuesday, valued at £225, belonging to Mrs H. K. Handley, of Waitotara, and breaking and entering A. H. Parkinson's store at Waitotara yesterday and stealing goods and money of a. value of £25. On the application of the police the pair were remanded to Wanganui on July 3. The car was found abandoned after crashing into a lamp post, and the police traced the owner to Waitotara.
