LEAGUE OF NATIONS UNION

There was a large attendance at the monthly meeting of the Otago Executive Council of the League of Nations Union. Correspondence from the Dominion secretary directed attention to the film " Forgotten Men," in which General Sir lan Hamilton is one of the actors. This film will shortly appear in Dunedin. The letter also stated that the League of Nations Union annual conference would hike place in Wellington on August 28 and 29. Remits were invited. Discussion followed on the draft revision of the constitution, certain amendments ba'ng proposed. Members submitted remits for the conference concerning the ratification by the New Zealand Government of those conventions of the International Labour Conference, already approved by New Zealand, many of which are suitable to the legislation of the Dominion. The Government, it is proposed, should be congratulated on sending a delegation to this year's International Labour Conference. Remits were prepared for the Dominion Conference of the National Council of Women, which will meet in Dunedin during September. Two special articles in Headway were reviewed as a basit, for local activity. The. Birmingham scheme was referred to the Secondary Schools Lducation Committee with a request for its report next month. The treasurer reported that all local liabilities had been discharged, leaving only a small credit balance.
