GRUESOME FIND
PARTS OF HUMAN BODY EVIDENCE AT INQUEST LONDON, April 10. Sir Bernard Spilsbury (Home Office Pathologist), giving evidence at the combined inquest on the legs and torso, said there was strong presumption that the remains belonged to the same body, which he believed was that of a healthy, strongly built, fair-headed man, aged 40 to 50. Freckles at the back of the neck indicated much time spent in the open air. He added that he had discovered three and four-inch hairs, apparently a woman’s, lying on the torso’s chest, which was crushed after death. It was most unlikely that death had occurred in hospital. Inspector Donaldson, of Scotland Yard, said he believed that the crime was not connected with the Brighton trunk No. 1 mystery, but investigations were continuing. The inquest was adjourned.
A headless male torso, with me legs sovex-ed close to the body and a hand missing, was discovered on March 19 in a canal near Brentford, which is on the line between Hounslow and Waterloo, where the legs were found. The body was wrapped in ft flannel shirt and trousers in a loosely-tied sack. It was found by boys seeking tadpoles.
