OIL COMPANY'S ROAD CONTRACT AUTHORITY REFUSES APPLICATION. (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 23. The No. 6 Licensing Authority sat this morning. The authority refused an application by Messrs Ryans, Ltd., of Lower Hutt, for a license to carry on on benali of an oil company oils und_ greases by road to Hastings and Napier and to Hawera and New Plymouth three times a month as the applicant had been doing for the past two years or more. A letter from the employing company was before the authority stating that the company wished applicant to continue the service; but the appli»ation was declined on the ground that the Railways Department already had a good service operating, thus renderin 2 an additional service unnecessary. The railways representative had objected, saying that the department had now established at great expense an additional and excellent service to Napier.
