A LONG PURSE MARKET

Some amazing averages were made at the yearling galea in England in 1934. Fairway (who headed the list in 1933, though untried as a sire) again did best in 1934; • Eight of his yearlings made 28,490gn5> or an average of 3561gus. Blandford came next with an average of 3283gns for nine yearlings. Two of Friar Marcus sold for an average of 2800gns, and 11 of Solario averaged 2350gns. Eleven by his sire (Gains-' borough) averaged 2142gns.' Five of Tetratema averaged 2322gn5. One of the Derby winner, Blenheim, sold for 3000gns. One of the Derby winner, Felstead (by. Spion.ltop, grandson of Carbine) sold for 5000gns. In 1934 107 yearlings made lOOOgns, or over, while in 1923 the number to do that was ,55. Twelve yearlings by .the.
