MALARIA EPIDEMIC
THE CEYLON OUTBREAK FREE DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD • (British -Official Wireless.) RUGBY, February 21. The Colonial Office has received a further telegram from the Governor of Ceylon regarding the recent malaria outbreak there, which states that the prolonged drought last year _ badly affected the rice crop, which is ordinarily reaped in February and March, resulting in a food shortage in many districts. This was foreseen and measures were taken at the end of last year, so that relief works on a large scale are now in (progress in all badly affected areas. Payments are being promptly made, enabling the inhabitant's to obtain food supplies. Where sickness is still prevalent the free distribution of food continues.
