A PUBLIC HOLIDAY ' (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, February 21. The King fti-day formally approved the proclamation appointing May (5, the jubilee date, as a public,holiday. RESTORATION OF PENNY POST LONDON, February 22. (Received Feb. 22, at 9 p.m.) The Morning Post publishes the surprising announcement that the penny post will be restored before the King’s silver jubilee on May 6. It recalls that a penny rate for four ounces was introduced during Queen Victoria’s diamond jubilee. PRESS CONGRATULATIONS LONDON, February. 22. (Received Feb. 22, at 11.55 p.m.) The Morning Post, in a leader, congratulates Sir Kingsley Wood (Post-master-general) on the decision to restore the penny post as a jubilee gift to the nation. It adds: “The loss of revenue has been estimated at £6,500,000, but this will be offset, by a gain in business immeasurable in pounds, shillings and pence.”
