PYGMY FOSSILS
A PROFESSOR’S OPINION POSSIBLY ABNORMAL DWARF (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, February 21. “ I believe the fossils may be those of an abnormal dwarf,” said Sir Grafton Elliot Smith (professor of anatomy at the London University). “I have known dwarfs of less than 2ft. The conception of a man of 15in at present so astounds anthropologists as to appear fantastic.” Simultaneously with the !>■• ' i.v covery, an archaeologist, Major A. G. Wade, unearthed in Hampshire the skeleton of a mammoth with tusks 10ft long and 19iin in circumference.
The Bombay correspondent of The Times stated yesterday that the fossil remains of a 15-inch pygmy man, a 10-inch walking, stick, and an 18-inch high cow were discovered at Vadnagar, in. Baroda, and are likely to cause a revision of the theories regarding the cradle of the huntan race. The extinct Indian race is more diminutive than the smallest known Central African pygmies.
