CLEM DAWE REVUE COMPANY
FINAL PERFORMANCES TO-DAY For the three final performances by the Clem Dawe Revue Company in Dunedin a particularly attractive programme was arranged, the cream of the sketches and scenas presented during the company’s long Dunedin season being selected for the last evening performance, which was witnessed,by a large and enthusiastic audience in His Majesty’s Theatre. As was anticipated, the standard of the entertainment pressented last evening was unusually high, even for this talented company, for with the best of its material to work upon it succeeded in producing a show which must be classed as the best it has yet given iu this city. Mr Clem Dawe was well to the fore in a large number of extremely hilarious sketches, in which he received excellent support from Miss Dorothy White, Mr Eric Edgley, Mr Lea White, and Mr Joe Shriner, the bursts of laughter and sustained applause which greeted the efforts of the chief comedian and his colleagues indicating conclusively the audience’s keen appreciation of their efforts. Miss Muriel O’Malley and Miss Ann Luciano were prominent in several artistically sung ducts, prominent among which was “ Waiata Poi,” and Mr Cliff O’Keefe and Mr Ralph Daly also sang a number of songs in highly attractive style. Mr Gregory Ivanoffi’s violin selections were, as usual, extremely popular, and the clever adagio dancers, Halliday and Watson, presented several enjoyable exhibitions of rhythm and grace. Miss Edna Luscombe and Miss Edna Moncrieff and the Sun-tanned Ballet performed yeoman service during the evening, providing a largo number of artistically conceived and cleverly executed dance ensembles which contributed very largely towards the success of the entertainment as a whole, while the musical accompaniments supplied by the orchestra under the direction of Mr Tom King were again thoroughly in keeping with the high standard of the presentation. The final performances of the gala programme, which will conclude the company’s Dunedin season, will be given this afternoon and this evening.
