COAL MINERS’ WAGES
QUESTION OF NEW AGREEMENT (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 22. At a conference held in Wellington this week a' request for the restoration of the 10 per cent, cut in the coal miners’ wages was made by the delegates of the National Council of the United Mine Workers of New Zealand. The representatives of the Coal Mine Owners’ Association, referring to the depressed condition of the industry and the losses made by a number of companies, suggested that ihe unions allow the question for a new agreement to stand over for six months from March.
The men’s delegates will place the owners’ proposals before tho unions.
