DEBATE IN PARLIAMENT
COMPLAINT BY OPPOSITION UNFAIR REPORTING ALLEGED (Feom Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON. February 22. Objections to the nature of the newspaper reports of the debate on the Mortgage Corporation of New Zealand Bill were expressed by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr M.. J. Savage) in the House of Representatives to-day. Mr Savage.said that the reporting of the daily papers had been obviously unfair. Mr Richards (Roskill) : Hear, hear! Mr Savage: Every statement made in opposition to the statements from this side of the House is almost painted on the clouds, while the member for Grey Lynn (Mr J. A. Lee) had three lines in; each of the local newspapers after making an outstanding speech in the House. If that is fairness, we do not want too much of it. Thank heaven the time will come when we shall be on equal terms. We know our responsibility to the country, and we are going to carry on our campaigning until the people know how they have been fleeced.
