ADMIRAL BYRD
REUNION WITH HIS WIFE RADIO CONTACT MAINTAINED (Pee United Peess Association) AUCKLAND, February 22. Admiral R. E. Byrd and his wife were reunited in Auckland to-day after a separation of nearly two years. Mrs Byrd arrived by the Mariposa, and her husband by train from Wellington. Although separated so long, they have been in continual touch by means of wireless. They had a private code which, unlike the radio telephone, was secret. When Admiral Byrd was living alone in his hut in the far south, his messages were sent to Little America, and relayed from there. Mrs Byrd expressed her delight at being in New Zealand, of whose beauty and friendliness her husband had often written. Adniilal Byrd and Mrs Byrd will leave shortly for Dunedin.
