THE CRUISER DUNEDIN
DEFECT IN TAILSHAFT (Pee United Peess Association) AUCKLAND, February 22. A wear in part of the “ A bracket ” supporting the starboard propeller tailsbaft of H.M.S. Dunedin necessitated repairs which are now in progress. The work involves the fitting of new liners in the bearing of the bracket, and is expected to occupy a fortnight. The need for repair was anticipated, and allowance was made for it when the cruiser docked on February 11 as part of her biennial refit. This trouble is the fourth similar defect found in the “A brackets" of the Dunedin and the Diomede in the past year.
