LONDON’S MAIL
London is still the greatest postal centre in Europe, or in the Empire. More than 17.000. articles are dealt with each week in the inland section letter office. During 1934 the section that deals with correspondence posted in bulk by large publishers and advertising agents increased to such an extent that more than 2.000. items have now to be handled daily. The letter office makes up 3370 separate mails every day and on an average despatches 11,500 bags of correspondence. Mails leave or arrive almost everv five minutes and the office never closes its doors. A staff of 3500 is employed.
