Faster aircraft, particularly for military purposes, are in the offing, according to a report made to the United States AviatioK Commission by Dr 6. W. Lewis, director of aeronautical research for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics. Dr Lewis forecast a military aeroplane fast enough to fly from Washington to New York (209 miles) in half an hour.
