FOODSTUFFS PROBLEM

ELIMINATING AN ANOMALY REGULATION OF PRODUCTION __ / LONDON, November 27. In an effort to overcome the maldistribution of foodstuffs the Government is initiating a great " planned national utility drive," by which the surplus over middlemen's requirements will be diverted to areas where unemployment is heaviest for sale at nominal rates. The surplus milk for school children experiment has been so successful that the Government is aiming at a similar distribution of other perishable foodstuffs, thus overcoming the scandal of food being allowed to rot. For example, fish has.been thrown back into the sea. Producers whom the State is already financially assisting to regulate production, will co-operate, and thereby it is hoped to eliminate the anomaly of starvation in the midst of plenty.
