OBITUARY
BRIGADIER-GENERAL NEWENHAM LONDON, November 15, The death is announced of Brigadiergeneral Newenham, after a long illness due to war injuries. Brigadier-general Henry Edward Berkeley Newenham, retired, was 68 years of age. He joined the Royal Fusiliers in 1880, and served in South Africa. He commanded the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers at the Gallipoli landing, and was severely wounded, losing a leg. He was Mayor of Lymington from 1924 to 1927. MR CHARLES SARGEANT JAGGER LONDON, November 16. (Received Nov. 17, at 1 a.m.) The death is announced of Mr Charles Sargeant dagger, the sculptor; aged 49. Among his outstanding works were statuettes of King and the 1 Prince of Wales. MRS DAVID BRYCE The death has occurred at her residence, -Lovell’s Flat, at the age of 79 years, of Mrs D. Bryce. was bora at Gavington, Bcrwicksmre, Scotland, and when a young child accompanied her parents .(the late Mr and Mrs Jasper Clark) and two brothers when they emigrated to New Zealand in the ship Jura in 1856. Her parents settled at Clarksville, and in 1879 she was married to Mr David Bryce, a settler of Lovell’s Flat district. Mr and Mrs Bryce took up their residence at Lovell’s Flat. Outside her home life Mrs Bryce’s chief interest was the Presbyterian Church of the district, to which she rendered effective but unobtrusive service. She is survived by her husband, one son and one daughter, all living at home; and also by five brothers. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at Fairfax Cemetery and was largely attended by residents of all parts of the district. The services were conducted at the house and graveside by the Rev. J. J> Bates.
