A handsome trophy valued at 25 guineas has been received by the Southland A. and P. Association for most points in Southdown sheep. The trophy is to be known as the William Watson Memorial, and is to be won three times in succession or five times at intervals. The donation has been made by the Southland Farmers Co-operative Association as a small recognition of the valuable work carried out by the late Mr William Watson, of Heddon Bush, in connection with the topdressing of pastures and the introduction of Southdowns.
