HIGH COMMISSIONER
SIR JAMES PARR’S TERM A TWELVE MONTHS’ EXTENSION (From Ocr Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, October 19. Sir James Parr, High Commissioner for New Zealand in London, bas accepted appointment for a further 12 months as from December next. The Prime Minister (Mr G. W. Forbes), making this announcement to-day, expressed the pleasure of the Government at the extension of Sir James Parr’s term. Sir James had been in touch with the Imperial Government over the meat import restriction negotiations, and the continuity of the High Commissioner’s office was the most important consideration at the moment. Besides, Sir James’s knowledge of the conditions in the Dominion would be of great advantage in the presentation of New Zealand’s ease. It had been known for some time that despite the High Commissioner’s early intention of retaining his office only for one year, his reappointment for a further term was being seriously considered both by himself and by the Government. The Government has been very pleased with the manner in which Sir James has been advancing the interests of the Dominion, particularly through the extension of trade propaganda to the provinces, and members of the Government have not been slow to express their appreciation of the High Commissioner’s energy and ability.
