THE GAMING ACT
PREMISES RAIDED BY POLICE TWENTY-ONE ARRESTS EFFECTED. (Peb United Press Association.) , AUCKLAND, October IS. Twenty-one men—six Chinese and 15 Europeans —were arrested by detectives in simultaneous raids on three premises in the city shortly after 8 o’clock tonight. There were nine in the police party and three went to each house, two of which were in Grey avenue and the third in Pitt street. No resistance was offered at any of the three premises. Later a number of the prisoners were charged before a justice of the peace with various breaches of the Gaming Act, and were released on bail.
