MISSIONARIES IN CHINA ONE WOMAN RELEASED PEKING, October 19. (Received Oct. 20, at 0.30 a.m.) A message to the British Legation from Yunnanfu clears up the situation with regard to Mrs Hayman. Both she and Mrs Bosshard, v sth their husbands, were captured ou October 1, but Mrs Hayman was subsequently released and has now arrived at Kweiyang, bringing the bandits’ demand for 100,000 silver dollars ransom for each of the remaining three captives. A previous message reported the capture by Communists of three foreign missionaries belonging to the China Inland Mission and stationed at Kiuchow (also known as Laohuaping). Those captured include an Australian, the Rev. Mr Hayman.
