REPORTS OF COMMITTEES The following is a summary of the reports of the various committees which will be presented at the . monthly meeting, of the Otago Hospital Board next Thursday night. , The Benevolent Committee will report that during the past month 26 cases for relief at a weekly cost of £l9 10s have been dealt with. Casual cases for relief amounting to £561 Os 2d have been approved. Fifteen men received 09 days’ work at the board’s institutions, at a total cost of £43 2s Cd. During the past month three persons have been admitted to, six discharged from, and one death has occurred at the Talboys Home and Infirmary Ward. At present 122 inmates remain in the institution. The Hospital Committee will recommend that the quotation from Messrs John Chambers and Son for the supply of a frigidaire biological cabinet without drawers, but with trays, be accepted, and authority granted to install drawers as may be required, and that at the request of the honorary visiting staff applications be invited each year throughout New Zealand for the position of two senior house surgeons. The Finance Committee will report that no further action is to be taken in reference to the' drainage from the maternity ward, Tuapeka Hospital. The controller of stores has been authorised to act in reference to improvements to the sterilising equipment at the Port Chalmers, Tapanui and Roxburgh hospitals as required by the Department of Health. The Maniototo Hospital Board has withdrawn its claim for X-ray charges for Otago patients while in Maniototo Board’s institutions.
