PALMERSTON PICTURES

On Labour Night (Monday) Cook’a Pictures will present an excellent holiday programme in the Palmerston Town Hall, when the chief attraction will be “Love’s Old Sweet Song.” Based on the world-famous ballad by J. Molloy, the story of the production is an appealing one. It tells of a pretty concert artist, Mary Dean, with whom three men are in love. She is attracted by the worthless one of the three, and her life is one of unhappiness. Her husband’s brother, who loves her deeply, shoulders a charge of manslaughter to save his worthless brother. When Mary hears of this she realises that it was the brother she really loves. But destiny still has a card or two to play, and the last hours of the play are closely packed with drama and surprise. The supports are of like excellence, and a fine holiday entertainment is assured.
