PSYCHOLOGY LECTURE
ADDRESS BY MR H. GAZE During the course of an address on Sunday evening, Mr H. Gage said that true prayer was the grateful acceptance of the good which was our perpetual birthright. There was a definite psychology of prayer which made it effective. There was an evolution of the idea of God, so also there was an evolution of the ideal of prayer. God was always the same, but concepts of God changed as mankind grew in character and spiritual realisation. Jesus of Nazareth taught a most wonderful form of prayer. This was the idea of making prayers of definite thanksgiving. He said, “ When ye pray, pray giving thanks, believing that ye have already received.” St. Paul said of faith, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen." Men might pray scientifically, efficiently, and successfuly io live lives of joyous victory, in perfect and permanent health, and everlasting youth. The secret of life, health, and prosperity was to be found in blended love and wisdom. Thought was a silent, subtle, dynamic power to bring health and happiness, and when this was, acknowledged in grateful thanks and faith prayer became a force to bring inevitably the good for which men prayed.
