TROTTING NOTES

By Sentinel.

Acceptances for the Oamaru Trotting Club's meeting are due on Monday next. Harold Logan is now sharing favouritism with Indianapolis for the Trotting Cup. Worthy Queen is again amongst the active brigade -at Addington, and looks big in condition. Donalda looks nicely placed on the front of the Hadlow Handicap at Timaru tomorrow. Gamble'Will only need to be on his best behaviour at' Timaru to-morrow to finish in a place in the Washdyke Trot Handicap. The three-year-old Moana Tama is reported to be shaping in pleasing style in his track work. He has built up nicely since he last appeared in public.* The three-year-old Levity recently met with an accident and has been eased up in-his work. It is to be hoped that the mishap will not seriously interfere with his preparation. Some of the Auckland critics consider Chancellor every bit as good as War Buoy, and a meeting between them at Addington would arouse a lot of interest.

The Oamaru Club should have a most successful meeting on Labour Day. This fixture is advantageously placed on the calendar, and an exceptionally good class of horse is engaged. The track at Forbury Park is in excellent condition at present, and several horses are being worked there for early engagements. B. Jarden has a useful team -in work, Donalda being the star performer. Satin King is causing his trainer some trouble to keep him in, work. He has shaken off the trouble that existed in one of his front legs, but the one formerly sound shows signs of the extra strain on it. Rollo, Blandford, Attorney, and Agile were companions in a work-out over two miles at Addington on Wednesday. They jogged the first part of the distance and then sprinted home in 32sec, finishing in a bunch. In the Free-for-All Race at Syracuse oh August 30, Dick Reynolds, by Single G—Etabella, won a purse of 500 dollars after pacing the second and third heats in 2min Isec and 2min .respectively. Howard M'Elwyn, by Mr M'Elwyn, won the first heat in 2min Isec. The Horseman Futurity was won by Vitamine, who set the season’s record for three-year-olds by trotting 2min and 2min 2sec in successive heats. Indianapolis and Mountain Dell were worked over two miles at Addington during the early part of the week. Indianapolis went to a break in the first few strides. At the next attempt Indianapolis went 4min 32 3-ssec and Mountain Dell 4min 34sec without a mistake.
