KAITUNA CLUB'S OPENING

Despite the weather conditions on Saturday, there was an attendance of about 40 people at the opening of the Kaituua Lawn Tennis Club's season. Owing to the fact that early in the .afternoon the courts were carrying some water, play was not then possible, but later in the day some of the younger members were able to get in the first games of the season. The president of the club (Mr W. R. Sinclair) welcomed the members and visitors, extending a special welcome to the new members, and officially declared the season open. The President of the Otago Lawn Tennis Association (Mr A. T. Jensen) expressed the best wishes of the association, and bespoke the club's support for the carnival to be held by the association in the near future in aid of its funds. The president of the United Club (Mr S. Falconer), conveyed the good wishes of his executive, and pointed out the advantages of joining and supporting the United Club, which undertook the duty of keeping the association's courts in condition. Tlie tables were pleasingly decorated with spring flowers, and afternoon tea was served by the ladies, to whom a vote of thanks was carried.

PORT CHALMERS CLUB

The official opening of the Port Chalmers Lawn Tennis Club's season, which was fixed for Saturday afternoon, was postponed until a later date on account of wet weather. The members of the club held a card tournament on Saturday evening.
