Thousands of wasps, which arrived in Bag lane, Atherton, Lancashire, lately, caused women to rush into their houses, and close doors and windows in fear. The wasps settled in the railway goods yard. Crowds Of people went to see the “ invaders,” and after 24 hours the wasps flew off in a southerly direction. The station master said the wasps ■ darkened the sky for 10 minutes, as they appeared, and when they settled thev looked like a huge football.
