THE AMERICA'S CUP
EVE OF THE CONTEST FINAL PREPARATIONS BRISTOL (Rhode Island), Sept. 13. The Endeavour and the Rainbow were given .a final grooming to-day preparatory to the opening of the contest for the America’s Cup on Saturday. The consensus of lay opinion is that there is little to choose between the two yachts, with the palm for beauty and unity of design going to the Endeavour. Asked to comment on London cable messages questioning Rainbow’s adherence to the rules governing construction, Mr Sopwitli said: “ I intend to abide by the New York Yacht Club rules. I have made no protest.”
