SIXTY-EIGHTH ANNUAL MEETING About •30 members of the Tokomairiro Farmers’ Club attended, the sixty-eighth annual meeting, held at Milton on Wednesday evening. The chair, was occupied by the retiring president (Mr W. Moore, jim.). The annual report referred to the unqualified success of the last Summer Show. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £35 9s. 9d, an increase of about £8 compared with the previous year, and over £2O had been expended on' painting the club’s sheds at the show grounds, and on other works of a non-reciirrent nature.—-The report and balance sheet were adopted. . .. . , Mr Thomas Groundwater was elected president for the coming. term, and Mr T. M. Scott was appointed vice-presid-ent. Messrs C. J- Cleary, J. J. Lane and T. Lewis were re-elected'as hon trear surer, auditor, and veterinary surgeon respectively, Seven of the eight members of committee who retired by rotation were re-elected—Messrs R. G. Cullen, R. Clark, W.- Allison, R. M. Rutherford, A. Lockhart, T. Quill and R. Bruce. Mr D. Burnett displaced Mr A. H. ‘Peattie in the ballot for committee.
Mr Alexander Campbell wag appointed secretary. The Finance and Grounds Subcommittee were ' re-elected; The Clydesdale Horse Society . wrote offering the usual inscribed' silver medal for the best Clydesdale colt dr filly. The Otago branch of the Friesian Society wrote offering a , gold medal'for the best registered Friesian female bred by'the exhibitor, conditional on there being' 15 entries in the : section, and the animals to be judged by an official Friesian judge. —The offers M ere accepted. It M-ag decided that a letter of.appreciation ' be forwarded to Mr. A> H. Peattie in recognition of his past services to the club as an exhibitor and as a member of the committee. Mr. Peattie had been associated with the- committee for 25 years, and had also Occupied the position of president.
