, APPEAL TO THE PUBLIC LONDON, August 14. Launching a campaign to clean up crime, Scotland Yard is appealing for public co-operation, as the task is becoming too great for the police, says the Weekly Dispatch. “Trunk Murder No. I,’’ it is stated, has already cost £IO,OOO, including £ISOO on telephone calls and £2OOO on special inquiries which entailed * police cars travelling 40,000 miles.
