WOMEN’S EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the executive of the Women’s Hockey Association was held bn Monday evening. Miss Hill presiding over a full attendance of members. The secretary of the State Primary Schools’ Association wrote thanking the association for co-operatiou in supplying schools with hockey sticks. The secretary of the Girls’ Hockey Subcommittee advised that the annual seven-a-side tournament would be played-to-day (Wednesday), and asked for assistance with refereeing—lt was agreed to give all assistance possible. A letter was received from the secretary of the Men’s Hockey Association, asking that all hockey matches be postponed on September B.’ the day of the test match. New Zealand v. Australia.—lt was agreed to postpone matches on that date. _ The secretary of the University Club advised that they would have to withdraw their C Grade team from the competition. —lt was decided that as some matches in the second round had been played, those teams drawn to meet University for the remainder of the round be awarded the match by default. Mr Miller, selector, attended the meeting to discuss the advisability of closing the A Grade competition and starting trial and practice matches.—After discussion it was decided to play A Grade matches on August 4, and to communicate with'Manictoto and South Otago-regarding outstanding players for a trial on August 11 or 18. The president (Mrs J. W. Sutherland) presided over a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the Palmerston Saravati Club. Vocal solos were given by Mrs G. B. Smith and Misses Galbraith, Brown, Spence, and Thomas, a piano duet by Misses Lang and Wright, and a piano solo by Miss Wright. Recitations were presented by Misses Aitken and Moodie, and the programme was concluded with a concerted vocal item. V
